To raise to one's lips and drink.

We need to employ a hoist to lift that material onto the truck.

Abrasive

Any material or substance used for grinding, polishing.

Tending to annoy or cause ill will; overly aggressive.

Her mannerisms and personality tend to be abrasive when dealing with subordinates.
