To bring about an accord, truce or peace.
To effect or convey a message.

Shawn was employed to mediate the negotiation between the two groups.

Accentuated

To give emphasis or prominence to.
To mark or pronounce with an accent.

Did you notice that Dr. Brown accentuated the passage on the historical relevance between Chamberlain and Churchill?

Obtuse

Not quick or alert in perception.
Not sharp, acute or pointed.

Our dog Badger is not all that obtuse.
