Enigma

Enigma
A puzzling or inexplicable occurrence or situation.
A person of puzzling or contradictory character.
A saying, question, picture, containing a hidden meaning.

The best way for me to describe James would be to say that he is an enigma.

Incredulous

Not credulous; disinclined or indisposed to believe; skeptical.
Indicating or showing unbelief.

I read the documents; I heard the testimony; it statements are incredulous at best.

Superfluous

Being more than is sufficient or required; excessive.
Unnecessary or needless.

The balance of the information you are providing is superfluous to the case and not pertinent.
