Panacea
A remedy for all disease or ills; cure-all.
An answer or solution for all problems or difficulties.

Jeff was confident that this new procedure would be the panacea that they were looking for.  

Pernicious

Causing insidious harm or ruin; ruinous; injurious; hurtful.
Deadly; fatal.
Obsolete, evil; wicked.

The doctor described the disease as pernicious in nature and held little hope.

Hallowed

Regarded as holy; venerated; sacred.

As the players walked onto the field, their coach spoke of the turf as hallowed ground.
