To undergo, experience, or suffer (injury, loss, etc.); endure without giving way or yielding.
To keep (a person, the mind, the spirits, etc.) from giving way, as under trial or affliction.
To keep up or keep going, as an action or process: to sustain a conversation.
It is important to recognize that the only way we can sustain this organization is through effective communication and marketing.
Excise
An internal tax or duty on certain commodities, as liquor or tobacco, levied on their manufacture, sale, or consumption within the country.
A tax levied for a license to carry on certain employments, pursue certain sports, etc.
To impose an excise on.
