 A person who is opposed to, struggles against, or competes with another; opponent; adversary.

The adversary of the hero or protagonist of a drama or other literary work

Physiology, a muscle that acts in opposition to another.

He plays the antagonist to Arthur's character.

Subtle

 Thin, tenuous, or rarefied, as a fluid or an odor.

Fine or delicate in meaning or intent; difficult to perceive or understand

Delicate or faint and mysterious.

Requiring mental acuteness, penetration, or discernment.

As he embraced her, he  noticed the subtle aroma of her perfume

Cherubic

Of or having the nature of a cherub, or an angel represented as a rosy-cheeked child with wings.

Having a plump, pretty innocence.

As an infant, Timothy displayed a cherubic quality.
