To flood; cover or overspread with water; deluge.
To overwhelm.

John likes to inundate his employees with busy work providing the perception from others that the firm is very active.

Levity

Lightness of ind, character, or behavior.
An instance or exhibition of this.
Fickleness.

Henry likes to bring levity to the table when discussions become heated.
