Relevant; apt.

James enjoyed his work and demonstrated a apposite strength for it given his recent success.

Odious

Deserving or causing hatred; hateful; detestable.
Highly offensive; repugnant; disgusting.

Blake's behavior was odious to all who worked with him and especially so with his subordinates.
